Although plastic ventilation systems are designed for use in commercial and industrial installations, plastic ventilation pipes and fittings are also widely used in set design, prop making and production design in the theatre, film and TV industries.
PPS ducting comes in a wide range of shapes and sizes and is extremely versatile, providing a futuristic, industrial or urban look to sets, props and costumes. Plastock has significant experience working in production design, supplying films such as James Bond and Star Wars as well as TV shows like Strictly Come Dancing. When used in commercial and industrial settings, PPS ventilation systems are often used in applications such as fume extraction where conventional materials, such as plated steel or stainless steel, are insufficient due to their limitations. They are widely used where corrosive gasses would otherwise quickly eat away at metal systems, and in areas with a high humidity, especially where corrosion accelerants such as chlorine and salts are present. Plastic ducting is an excellent choice for heating and cooling as it offers better insulation than other materials such as metal. In addition, the smooth inner surface of the plastic ducts reduces air resistance, enhancing the efficiency of the ventilation system.
PPS a durable material that withstands wear, corrosion and cracking, ensuring long-term performance even in harsh environments. It has a high chemical resistance (especially to solvents and alcohols), a high resistance to corrosion, hot water and water vapour, is flame resistant and has an operating temperature range of 0 to 90°C. Due to its low flammability, PPS is often used for ventilation and exhaust ducting in industrial facilities and buildings used to remove air and aggressive gases.
